Welcome To The Southern Rock Cruise

If you grew up in the ‘70s you have indelible memories of the first time you heard The Allman Brothers “One Way Out” or Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird”-the ultimate power ballad, the live version topping 14 minutes and one of the most requested songs of all time. The music blended blues, country and rock but was southern only in its origin and authenticity. Whether you came from Pennsylvania, California, Michigan, Texas or every point between, this was your music and it only needed some cold beer and some great friends to enjoy it with. This wasn’t music designed for radio play or listener call-out. Double, triple guitar leads, jams that went as long as the band wanted, the blues like you never heard them and a communal experience like no other-this was the soundtrack of growing up ‘70s style and it influenced every decade thereafter.

When we first talked about doing a Southern Rock Cruise, we started with Lynyrd Skynyrd. How could we possibly launch this cruise without them? Thankfully, we didn’t have to answer that question and they will be joining us for a special exclusive performance in Jamaica.

While there is no doubt Skynyrd will rock the house while in Jamaica and be the foundation of a truly special 5 days, we have plenty more in store for those guests on our first Southern Rock Cruise. Other confirmed artists include 38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Wet Willie, Louisiana’s LeRoux, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and the recently added The Curt Towne Band. And we aren’t done yet. Many fans have reached out and suggested artists to add, we are in negotiations with a couple and are hopeful that we can add some more bands.

We are also hard at work laying out the performance schedules, lining up the logistics and spending time with Royal Caribbean to make sure we throw The Ultimate Tailgate at Sea. Guitar seminars, Q&A with artists and musicians, southern cooking demonstrations, bourbon tasting and many other events will round out the cruise.

This is our first Southern Rock newsletter and for those of you that are new to StarVista LIVE, let me express my thanks to you for your interest in our cruises, particularly Southern Rock. We welcome your input and read every email that you send. We very much want to get it right and if we can, we want to address your suggestions. Info@southernrockcruise.com
