Southern Rock Cruise Artists Are Fans Just Like Us!
There’s no doubt that the 2019 Southern Rock Cruise will be filled with the biggest Southern Rock fans on the planet…and that includes all the musicians onboard, too! That’s right – they’re not only legends, they’re superfans just like we are. And just like us, they love to rock out to a great song. But when they do it, it’s onstage in front of thousands of people. Check out the times our Southern Rock Cruise artists covered each other’s songs in concert:
Dickey Betts might just be the biggest fan onboard the Southern Rock Cruise. He’s covered Skynyrd during concerts in 2006 and 2009, the Marshall Tucker Band in 2009 and Wet Willie back in 1973.
Blackberry Smoke have covered both the Marshall Tucker Band and Molly Hatchet while The Marshall Tucker Band has been spotted doing Skynyrd’s “Gimme Three Steps” back in 1982. Molly Hatchet has also performed that song in concerts over the years, along with “Free Bird” and “That Smell.”
Black Stone Cherry covered a Marshall Tucker Band song in concert in 2016 and have been known to launch into “Sweet Home Alabama” from time to time.
The Steel Woods are partial to a different Skynyrd song, “I Need You.” And Preacher Stone has paid homage to both Molly Hatchet and Skynyrd, choosing “I Know A Little” and “I Ain’t The One.”
Just wait until we get to see the original bands that made these songs hits and the other artists that admire them so much when we’re all together on the Southern Rock Cruise 2019!
